The Icon of the face of Christ which is in the East known as "Made Without Hands" (by tradition King Agbar of Syria asked Christ to come and heal him - instead Christ wiped his face on a towel and sent it to the king by which he was healed).
King Agbar was one of the earliest Christians. In the West it is known as "Veronica"s Veil (by tradition on his way to Calvary Christ was greeted by some woman during which Veronica offered Christ a towel on which he wiped his face and on which his divine facial image was left.
END OR EACH BAR - a representation of angels that surrounded Christ at his crucifixion - by tradition the angels are the Archangels Michael (defender of the faith); Gabriel (God's messenger of the Annunciation; and Raphael (the angel) as well as a representation of the Seraphim, who were "so amazed" to see Christ Crucified.
CENTER - the traditional representation of the Crucifixion with Christ in the center with his Mother and Mary Magdalene to his right and St John the Beloved Apostle and probably Nicodemas.
VERSO OF THE CROSS - a representation of an angel on the end of each bar. The center show the great Archangel Michael the Defender of the Faith defeating Satan. Size: 1 7/8" x 1 1/4" Optional: sterling silver chain, gold plated, 18" length.
