The
front center panel is of Christ Almighty - the Teacher - the Pantocrator. Christ is pictured with a closed book of gospels. On either side of Christ are the initials IC XC - the first letters for the Greek name of
Jesus Christ. On either of Cross is the Virgin Mary and St John the Baptist. These three figures are collectively known as the Diesis. At the top is the Archangel Michael and the bottom Archangel Gabriel.
VERSO: The top has the
icon Made Without Hands - the first icon. The central figure is Archangel Michael the - the Defender of the Faith. St Nicholas flanks Arch. Michael on the right and St Sergius on the left.
